Introduction in Business Mentoring

This ILM recognised workshop is a 2-hour virtual or in-person course with pre and post reading, enabling attendees to gain a better understanding of business mentoring.

Who is this course for?

The workshop is ideal for organised mentoring programme mentors, individual mentors who wish to gain the knowledge, skills and confidence neeed to effectively mentor or coach people within a business environment and context or for experienced mentors that wish to start on a path of formal learning and development before proceeding to the Foundation, Level 5 or Level 7.

What will I learn through the program?

  • Explore the origins of mentoring and the differences between mentoring, coaching and consultancy, plus learn how to keep each support function separate
  • Know what it takes to be an effective business mentor
  • Understand the role and responsibilities of effective mentors
  • Understand the ethics and boundaries of mentoring
  • Explore the role of the mentee
  • Obtain an ILM Digital Token of Attendance & Completion
 

The workshop is used by the UK Government to train mentors through its Help to Grow Management Course.

Foundation in Business Mentoring

Who is this qualification for?
This qualification is for aspiring or experienced learners who wish to gain the knowledge,
skills and confidence to effectively business mentor or coach people within a business environment
and context. It is also an ideal qualification for those who wish to commence a career in business
mentoring or coaching and wish to learn more.

What will I learn through the program?

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of effective mentors and coaches.
  • Learn how to manage mentoring and coaching processes using recognised models.
  • Put your new skills into practice by carrying out supervised mentoring and coaching sessions.
  • Analyse your mentoring and coaching performance in order to improve own ability.
 

The Qualification takes a minimum of 6 weeks and comprises of three workbooks and two short assignments.
